Sentencing Law and Policy – California voters through Prop 47 help fix prison crowding problems plaguing state for decades

Professor Berman reposts a lengthy excerpt of SFGate’s March 6 article. He concludes, “Thanks to California voters passing Prop 47, the state now finally has 1,300 spare prison beds available for the confinement of the most serious and dangerous offenders. in [sic] addition, it has many millions of tax dollar to devote to programming to reduce crime and recidivism among those at great risk based on substance abuse.”
